While some pet owners love to dress up their dogs or cats for Halloween (ie our Dress Your Pet Halloween Contest with Totally Raw pet Foods), the CDC is warning against adding chickens to the list of pets suitable for Halloween costumes.

At least 92 Americans (21 hospitalized) have been infected with by an outbreak of a particular strain of salmonella — which the CDC says has come from handling live chickens, as well raw chicken pet food & other products.

This marks the 16th salmonella outbreak in the US this year (not all outbreaks were due to chicken products).

“Don’t kiss your birds or snuggle them and then touch your face or mouth.”
