5-year-old boy struck by vehicle while boarding schoolbus in Irishtown

November 20: A 5-year-old boy, struck by a vehicle boarding a bus in Irishtown this morning, is being treated for what is considered serious but “believed to be non-life threatening injuries.”

Codiac RCMP:

The collision happened on Communication Road in Irishtown, N.B., shortly before 8 a.m. on November 20, 2018. An eastbound school bus was stopped with its red lights flashing. A sport utility vehicle approaching the bus from behind swerved to the right to avoid colliding with the back of the bus, and struck the boy who was boarding the bus. The SUV came to rest in the ditch. No one else was injured.

An investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing, with the assistance of an RCMP collision reconstructionist. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Riverview RCMP at 506-387-2222.
