Doritos to make ‘LADY-FRIENDLY’ chips 50 years too late — less messy, quieter crunch

…I’m sorry, but come again? Are all other flavours of Doritos targeted toward men??

Guess this is no longer a smart Valentine’s gift for girls… *refund*

Doritos has decided to make a new “lady-friendly” Doritos chip

PepsiCo Chief Executive Officer Indra Nooyi in a recent podcast reports:

“Although women would love to crunch [chips] loudly, lick their fingers and pour crumbs from the bag into their mouth afterwards, they prefer not to do this in public.”

“You watch a lot of the young guys eat the chips, they love their Doritos, and they lick their fingers with great glee, and when they reach the bottom of the bag they pour the little broken pieces into their mouth, because they don’t want to lose that taste of the flavor, and the broken chips in the bottom.”

“Women would love to do the same, but they don’t. They don’t like to crunch too loudly in public. And they don’t lick their fingers.”

It’s not a male and female as much as ‘are there snacks for women that can be designed and packaged differently?’ And yes, we are looking at it, and we’re getting ready to launch a bunch of them soon.”

Evidently, man claims every other flavour of Dorito their own.

The “low-crunch” triangular snacks will even come in special packs specifically designed to fit into women’s handbags.

I’m sorry — This is starting to sound less likes a chip & more like a bread wafer.

Since the podcast, PepsiCo & Doritos have responded that the reporting (possibly Indra Nooyi’s words) wasn’t entirely accurate:

^It’s quite clear that Doritos are (and always were) meant to be enjoyed by EVERYONE, but some customers were happy to see the reminder message they tweeted.

It’s assumed Indra Nooyi meant to say the packaging was more aimed at a female audience, but still able to be enjoyed by anyone.

A PepsiCo spokesperson said more will be revealed in upcoming months.
