NES Classic discontinued within 5 months of release

April 18, 2017 | by: aaronarmstrong

It’s literally been just 5 months since Nintendo’s NES Classic released in stores — and it’s already being discontinued!

Seriously — Original NES consoles are easier to get your hands on than these. What the heck.

The news released last week: during the month of April, all remaining NES Classics will be shipped to stores and sold.

What’s frustrating here:

  1. Nintendo promised fans that the NES Classic would have a steady supply in stores throughout 2017
  2. This is going to drive scalper prices double and triple over their already-doubled & tripled prices!

NES Classics sell in stores for $79.99, while eBayers have been selling them for $200 TO $500!!

Last month, I even saw just the box and poster and manuals sell for a hundred bucks — not even for the console itself!

Nintendo hasn’t stated why they decided to can the tiny console — but I’m almost positive it’s because this little machine is now really simple to hack & play almost any retro game you can think of.

There’s a new program out — it’ll let you upload NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, & even N64 roms onto the NES Classic! Crazy!!

Either way — Good luck to you if you’re looking to buy an NES Classic in stores — the best way to get your hands on one of these is to just show up every chance you get — these consoles literally last minutes on shelves in stores!
