Via Rail says no one injured following two-car derailment north of Moncton
Two cars on a Via Rail passenger train had derailed early Thursday afternoon in New Brunswick, thankfully with no reported injuries.
The incident happened during noon hour northwest of Moncton, in the Coal Branch area (near Saint-Paul) — Only two of the cars on Train 14 out of Montreal (on its way to Halifax) had derailed, but remained upright.
“Working with its partner owner of the rail infrastructure, Via Rail will conduct a full investigation to determine the cause of this incident.”
The company said they would be providing alternative transportation to the trainst passengers.
Friday’s scheduled Montreal-to-Halifax departure for Train 15 has been cancelled due to the incident.
Investigation is ongoing.
