Codiac RCMP, Crisis Negotiation Team rescue man in distress on church roof

Codiac RCMP had blocked off a section of Hildegard Drive Wednesday morning, following reports of a man in distress on a church roof.

At 7:30am Wednesday morning, RCMP received reports of a 21-year-old on the roof of St. Andrew’s Church, threatening to harm himself.

RCMP first responders as well the RCMP Crisis Negotiation Team & Moncton fire crews arrived shortly thereafter — setting up a perimeter so the negotiation team could make contact with the man.

At around 11am, Codiac RCMP members on scene blocked off the area, moved in & made entry to the roof to arrest the individual.

The man in distress was safely brought down from the roof, but had suffered self-inflicted, non-life threatening wounds prior to his arrest.

The individual was sent to hospital for injury assessment. Investigation is ongoing.
