Saturday: free indoor/outdoor activities, free BBQ, free swim & prizes at YMCA Healthy Kids Day!

Saturday, June 8 — Get set for a fun-filled day at the YMCA of Greater Moncton for the entire family, with their 8th annual Healthy Kids Day open house!!

10am – 1pm Saturday: FREE activities, indoors and outdoors (weather permitting), including a FREE BBQ!

YMCA Healthy Kids Day gives families the opportunity to discover how simple and fun healthy living can be. There will be more than 20 community partners supporting us with different stations and awesome interactive fun. Bring your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews – the whole clan – for some terrific family fun!

When children arrive and register, they will receive a map of stations they can visit as well as a ‘passport’ to have stamped. When the passport is complete, they can enter a draw for prizes. The first 500 children to register will receive a YMCA tote bag. Other giveaways will take place throughout the event.

Parks Canada, Codiac RCMP, Ambulance New Brunswick, the City of Moncton, the Moncton Fire Department, Oulton College and other community partners will participate in Healthy Kids Day.

Among the many activities planned:

  • Obstacle Course, Inflatables, Zumba – 10 – 10:30am, 10:30 – 11am, 11:45 – 12:15pm, 12:30 – 1:15pm
  • Family Bootcamp – 10 – 10:30am, 11 – 11:30am
  • ‘Fat Bike’ demonstrations & face painting
  • Free Family Swim – 2:30 – 4:30pm (Don’t forget bathing suitsbathing caps for all ages and towels! Adults who are not YMCA members will require government-issued ID to gain pool-area access)

The Lifesaving Society’s ‘Swim to Survive’ challenge takes place from 10am – 1pm in the YMCA’s main pool. The challenge involves a roll into deep water, treading water for one minute and swimming 50 metres.

While Healthy Kids Day runs from 10 am to 1pm Saturday, the Y will be open to the public free of charge all day, from 7am – 8pm! Non-members are welcome to try group fitness classes, use fitness equipment in the Wellness Centre, make use of the Y’s three pools and tour the facility. A government-issued photo ID is required for non-members.

During the event, there will be limited parking in the YMCA’s main parking lot. Additional parking will be available at Oulton College, adjacent to the Y.
