Correctional Officers Protest Civil Service Pay Problems
Members of the Union of Correctional Officers are demonstrating today outside the Public Service Pay Centre in Miramichi.
They’re calling on the federal government to settle – once and for all – the issues plaguing the new pay system for federal employees.
Like tens of thousands of other Canadian Public Service employees, correctional officers say they have been deprived of pay, prevented from obtaining benefits or been victim to tax and grading errors.
The correctional officers say they also wish to demonstrate their solidarity with the workers of the Public Service Pay Centre in Miramichi who find themselves, involuntarily, in the middle of the Phoenix pay system debacle.
