Fired probation officer reinstated
A fired probation officer will be going back to work for the Justice Department but not in Moncton.
The Times and Transcript reports Kevin Kelly worked at the Moncton probation office for over three years but was terminated last October after allegations of sexual harassment by co-workers and inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.
His union, CUPE, filed a grievance and an adjudicator ruled in his favour saying there was a poisoned environment at his office. He also ruled Kelly should be reinstated at a different office, although with a suspension for five months without pay which is deemed to have been served. Kelly will be compensated for lost wages outside those five months.
