Our lobsters under threat in Europe

Good news for Sweden…bad news for our lobster fishermen.

The European Union’s Scientific Forum on Invasive Alien Species says Sweden has valid points in wanting live North American lobsters declared an invasive species.  The EU will now do a more extensive review.

Sweden says it found 32 of our lobsters that had escaped their tanks and were in their coastal waters, posing a threat to the smaller European species.

Federal Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc says the Canadian and American governments will vigorously try to convince the E-U that our lobster don’t pose a threat.
