Road work near Moncton High School

$10 million in funding has been announced by Ottawa and the province to alleviate traffic problems near Moncton High School, including sidewalks.

Since the high school opened, students have had to dodge the traffic and jump deep ditches to get to and from school on foot or bicycle.

The two senior levels of government will put up $5 million each to improve a 2.2km section of Elmwood Drive. Another $2.5 million will come from other provincial budgets. Transportation Minister Bill Fraser who says the work will not only improve the flow of traffic, but will boost safety as the area transforms from a rural to an urban environment.
