Don’t point things at the Mounties

A Moncton man has been given a conditional sentence for pretending to point a gun at a Mounty…but he won’t do jail time.

Marty Dane Bezanson pleaded guilty earlier to uttering threats and obstructing police. The judge gave him three months house arrest, six months curfew after that, probation and a $400 fine.

Court was told an officer was driving on Main Street when he saw someone dressed in camouflage raise a long black object to eye level and pretend to take two shots at the officer. The officer circled around and found Bezanson who resisted arrest and had to be pepper-sprayed. Turned out it wasn’t a rifle but a walking cane.
