SUMMARY:By The Numbers - The Success of Team Canada
DESCRIPTION:Canada delivered a strong but bittersweet showing at the 2026 Winter Olympics\, finishing with 21 total medals — five gold\, seven silver and nine bronze according to the updated national tally. Highlights included standout performances in freestyle skiing\, speed skating\, and curling\, with Mikaël Kingsbury\, Megan Oldham\, and the women’s team pursuit squad among the nation’s gold‑medal winners. Despite this success\, the Games ended on a heartbreakingly dramatic note in men’s hockey\, where Canada fell 2–1 to the United States in overtime of the gold‑medal final\, a matchup they controlled at times but ultimately couldn’t finish.\n\nBut The numbers in total have been crunched by Olympic officials\, here are some of the Numbers that stand out for Canadians this year:\n\n\n1260 – Degrees of rotation Megan Oldham landed twice to win Olympic gold in women’s ski big air \n28 – Years since a Canadian won an Olympic medal in the men’s 500m in long track speed skating before Laurent Dubreuil won bronze \n16 – Years since a Canadian won gold in the men’s 500m in short track speed skating before Steven Dubois’ victory \n13 – Points scored by Connor McDavid in Milan\, the most in a single Olympic tournament with NHL players \n4 – Medals won by Courtney Sarault at Milano Cortina 2026\, the second most ever by a Canadian at one Olympic Winter Games \n2 – Consecutive team pursuit gold medals won by Ivanie Blondin\, Valérie Maltais\, and Isabelle Weidemann \n\nCheck out the whole run down by the numbers here
